Rain - center of the world
I'm really convinced the world cup in Rain will be great for medias. After all, a lot of people seem to forget that the last time the world cup was played in Germany (Dortmud 2006), we had a huge coverage incuding CNN, Sky Sports and YahooTV.
Re: Rain - center of the world
A question for Vincent, you know how much does a trip to Rain per person including flights, car rentals, sleeping and eating?

said that "les Herbies" seemed like a disaster site to celebrate the World Cup.
You know it takes a minimum 500 euros por person for play en Rain?

Re: Rain - center of the world
For the Belgians it will cost exactly 100 Euros per player (transport & hotel).
Re: Rain - center of the world
2/3 nights hotel, minimum 100 euros.
3 days eating and drinking 100 euros.
trip 50 euros.
also to the Belgian coast at least 250 euros.
For Greeks, Maltese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Finnish coast less than 500.
Or do you just want to know what they spend the Belgians?

You eat too much or too expensively!
For us finns it costs a lot every time, but we cut down by eating poorly...
The World Cup could also some day be in the USA, South Africa or Argentina. For them it's always really, really expensive to play anywhere in Europe.

i wonder where in the world you wouldn't pay that much for it? nowadays flights almost cost all the same for all destinations (departing from your country)
Re: Rain - center of the world
At the World Championships in Malta German players have paid € 600-800. Then you are still favorable. What do you do if U.S. or Canada sometimes wants to host a World Cup.
Re: Rain - center of the world
mentioning the prices, it's been going on for the past years... Us southern mediterranean countries have always been obliged to pay loads of money to participate for such competitions. Unfortunately, this is becoming unacceptable and Fred just mentioned that for Malta in 2003 German players paid 500 or more Euros:
Maltese players paid:
2002 - England - 500euros
2003 - Malta - NIL
2004 Italy - 600euros
2005 Belgium - 600 euros
2006 Germany - 600 euros
2007 Austria - 650 euros
2008 France - 550 euros
2009 Amsterdam - 630 euros
2010 Germany - 500euros
This proves the ridiculous situation concerning this competition and how World Cups are chosen to facilitate the northern part of Europe... and this is not a matter of politics (at least hope it is so!)
I suggest World Cups to be hosted by Greece, Spain, Italy, Malta and in a rotation system and then I wonder how many northern countries would participate!

Re: Rain - center of the world
Hansel, sorry but you are 100% wrong. Wherever you go, it will always be expensive to travel from Malta, excepted maybe if the next WC is played in Sicily...
Northern Europeans are not responsible of the fact Malta is an isolated island. We're sorry about that but we can't improve it.
When Brazil or the US say they want to organize a big event, the same people are complaining about it.
Same about Denmark. The World Cup in Denmark was a big chance to help to promote the game in this country but the "very professional" people who think about "very professional" ways to promote the game were against it.
What is the solution? Having a WC in Malta every 3 years?
By the way, where was Silvio Catania when the world cup was held in Malta?

Re: Rain - center of the world
Despite all the "guarantees" Rain on the world are clamoring logistical problems,
I'm organizing the trip and besides the high prices of aircraft, what problems are already very worrying Hotels ...
We found no site or 10 km ... besides half of the hotels do not speak English.
I thought the only one left in Europe I was not speaking English ..

Did you ask the organiser for support ? I can't remember having seen a support request from you. For what reason did I send until now two Info files to all associations ?

Re: Rain - center of the world
Four years ago we had seriously problems with the spanish association. The president Fernando Gomez asked me for support and I reserved for the spanish delegation beds in a hotel in Kamen. Pretty cool situation because all the spanish journalist were in the same town like the spanish football team (less then 1 km away from the hotel I had reserved...). I was glad to prepared a perfect place for the spanish tables soccers and because of good contacts to the Sportcentrum Kamen-Kaiserau (where the footballers stayed) a meeting between of Subbuteo and Football team was possible.
The president ot the spanish association wrote an email to the hotel and booked the beds.
By surprise the manager of the hotel asked me on Friday (the day of the draw and of the congress) what about the spanish delegation. They didn´t checked in. At the tournament I asked them what is the meaning of this...?
They told me, they rethink it and booked hotels in Düsseldorf and forgot to cancel the booking in Kamen. Stupid, isn´t it
The end of the story is: they told me to solve the problem with the manager of the hotel in Kamen, but they never did. I had a lot of trouble about all this and I was very angry. But nobody from Spain cared about it...

Re: Rain - center of the world
And you write this because...
a) you think all Spaniards are the same,
b) you want to explain why you are not willing to help them with their problem,
c) you just rememebered a WC story
really , what is the point of your post?

Re: Rain - center of the world
Seriously, about May 15th, the belgian association contacted the hotels of the WC website (those who had an e-maila ddress) and asked them what they could offer for hosting 40 people. We had 4 answers and only 2 had small problems because they had less than 40 beds available. We booked rooms (some players decided to go to another cheaper hotel) and everything was OK.
Re: Rain - center of the world
Thossa, This comment is simply shameful.
In addition to being useless and out of place in a direct insult to the former President of the AFM, (now vice president sports), the AFM and Spain.
Such comments are demonstrating once again, if necessary, to Thoss not ready to represent the FISTF.
Jenus thank availability.
A greeting.
