Re: WC 2011
Does anyone know who is/are the contact person(s) of Palermo WC? I have some questions about the accommodation possibilities.

So, on the basis of the EGM, is the World Cup cancelled? I assume that I am not entitled to participate in the Mediterian Championships.

Re: WC 2011
It is offical announced by FISdF this year the WC will have only twelve nations involved. It looks like a low number of participants for 2011.
Are there any statistics available about the numbers of participated nations and and players from the past WCs to compare?

2001, Porto -> 16 nations & 123 individuals
2002, Birmingham -> 18 nations & 168 individuals
2003, Malte -> 16 nations & 122 individuals
2004, Bologne -> 18 nations & 152 individuals
2005, Tournai -> 18 nations & 200 individuals
2006, Dortmund -> 22 nations & 192 individuals
2007, Les Herbiers -> 14 nations & 161 individuals

2010, Rain am Lech -> 15 nations & 189 individuals (*)
(*): U12 included because it was officialf or the first time.
2011, Palermo -> 12 nations and... ???
Don't tell the FISTF Board the low numbers are influenced by:
- the date (july)
- the location (Palermo instead of Rome)
- the poor communication from the organizers
They will tell you it's not true...

I fear the situation for WC 2012 in Athens will not be better than this year. Au contraire...

And this includes 24 U12. This will therefore be the smallest world cup ever...Admin wrote:137 individuals are announced...
Re: WC 2011
What can us players in the south do if players from the north only play at a World Cup when it's organised in the north of europe and they can travel easily by car? That is the hipocracy, players from Malta, Italy, Spain and Greece fork out tonnes of cash to travel to competitions in northern europe and there is no reciprocal action from the part of the northern players?
How many world cups did malta, spain, greece & italy fail to attend? Rarely any even when it was held in remote places like rain am lech, les herbiers & tournai! Honestly what can the southern players do more? You have no reason to criticise because it is not our action but your actions which can solve this problem, please don't be hypocrites and point fingers!

Re: WC 2011
It's not a problem "North vs South", it's a problem of:
- very bad date. Hosting a world cup in july is the worst decision ever taken by a Board in FISTF history
- it's a consequence of De Francesco's stupid decision to give no more importance to the world rankings
- Palermo is a very bad place to reach with cheap flights. The WC was supposed to be in Rome. Let's not forget it...
- a rotten atmosphere because many people don't have any reason to support this Board made of liars, cheaters,... (OK, I'd better not say that but I really think it)
- very poor communication (the WC website sucks, sorry to say that)
By the way, I remember De Francesco once said the organizers would play the travel flights of the players from outside Europe. Once he got the world cup, he forgot it...

@attard...
Portugal is not really in the north. Maybe you can ask them why they don't have any participants.

Portugal is in the West and too far from South and North of FISTF
More serious...
The answer why we don't have any participants is quite simple.
There are 2 main reasons. Lack of money and lack of interest.

Re: WC 2011
To be correct Portugal is SOUTH west Europe. Normally people consider Spain and P part of South Eu just like the South of France.

Re: WC 2011
It was only a joke, but I thank you for your geography lesson
Nevertheless, Portugal is really too far from every venues where World Cup took place.
I suggest Madrid or Lisbon for next WC, maybe.

Re: WC 2011
Attardsubbuteo, if you have followed the international discussions the past 1,5 years you can easily find several reasons for this, that have nothing to do with geography. I suggest you dig in to this forums older topics, if you need to find reasons.
The SN forum also gives you one clear reason, although that reason is always deleted...
In short: lack of interest, lack of trust, poor location, poor date (decided by Italy, because of Italy's junior players have holidays then, without asking anyone else), poor competition system for the nations below the top (why travel for 2 games) etc.
All these things were well known already last summer. But instead of unifying and making changes to the tournament system, some people in charge want to alienate most active people and nothing has been done by the Sports department to develope the tournament formula to be more attractive (a finished idea has been suggested a long time ago).
The situation of FISTF was known to be extremely problematic before the Madrid EGM. Ita was quite clear to most of the critical voices here that something had to change dramatically in terms of attitude. Unfortunately those people who wanted different development than this (we can see it affecting the WC) were not elected, as the mr. Capponi stepped in to "save" the FISTF. Don't blame the people who were not given the chance after the catastrophy of last years Board (practically the same as today's).
Open your eyes, and direct your criticism where it should be directed. Towards the FISTF Board, which is not supposed to be representing any geographical area, but instead the whole world. You should ask them if they were interested in the problems many people raised (including even americans) concerning the World Cup.

Re: WC 2011
You are right, Mr FISTF president (OK, in reality you had 50% of becoming FISTF president, the other 50% were for Markus)
But as you can see on the SDF-forum, the real reason of the poor turnout is because it's in the South and nations from outside Southern Europe do everything they can to boycot SDF's bad faith is unbelievable sometimes...

It would be nice to have discussion about this in english with him. The readers of the italian forum know I tried also in italian, but it was impossible, because of my lack of witty expressions in italian language. I then invited him to discuss with proper argumentation anything regarding TF and FISTF in english (or finnish, if he prefers...). And then I was banned in a few days after SdF forum opened.
It's not a question of bad faith, it's a question of maligne politics that disguise the lack of arguments from him. He simply has nothing to offer in debate or discussion regarding so many things in TF. That was the reason he deleted his account here, too. He went licking his wounds with his tail between his legs. And now he acts like a spoilt rich brat whose father owns the village. And yet this man represents FISTF as a Board member...

Re: WC 2011
I am sure, if the WC 2011 would stay in Rome and in September, as originally planned, the numbers of players would be much higher. This is in my opinion an owngoal made by the people who decided it to move it to Palermo in July.
