Re: Tournament in Sweden
Website and/or contact person? Now i remember that someone from sweden sent me a email about linking his Zeugo shop to our site. Need to check it..
Re: Tournament in Sweden
See WASPA blog for contact person. Robert Green from Australia will probably be playing.
Re: Tournament in Sweden
The information i got so far from Lars is:
Date & Time: 21.8.2011 at 15:00->
Place: Olearys restaurant, Sundbyberg (10km from Stockholm)
Contact person: Lars Löfgren
At least few persons from Finland are planning to join the tournament as it's near us. I hope Lars will also update here the additional information about the tournament and maybe list of the palyers when they confirm their participation.
Vincent, Lars was asking about WASPA FB-site, is there (going to be) one?

Re: Tournament in Sweden
WASPA is on Facebook but I must admit I don't understand everything because it looks like there is a need to have 25 members (we have 20 so far) to have our proper Facebook address.
As for the tournament, it was just added yesterday so I think more details will come up in the next few days ;-)

Re: Tournament in Sweden
Already said that on Facebook: Hope the restaurant is big enough... ;-)
From what I've read in different conversations there may be participants from five countries at least...
Lars, are you prepared?

Re: Tournament in Sweden
By the way, Luis mentionned ont he Portuguese association's facebook page that there would be a tournament in Sweden and a well-known spanish guy started to blame me for being responsible that there was nothing in Sweden when I was in charge (lol). When I replied, my post was deleted... Amazing.
Re: Tournament in Sweden
But now there seems to be and it's WASPA tournament (where you are the one in charge) and not FISTF tournament. The irony once againAdmin wrote:By the way, Luis mentionned ont he Portuguese association's facebook page that there would be a tournament in Sweden and a well-known spanish guy started to blame me for being responsible that there was nothing in Sweden when I was in charge (lol). Gentlemen,
In the role of administrator of the Facebook group called "Grupo não oficial da APS - Associação Portuguesa de Subbuteo" I apologize about the removal of Vincent's post. I don't agree with this behaviour and I just posted a warning to every group's members about this situation.
I hope this does not repeat in this group.
I won't do any further comments. Please don't ask for it.
Best regards.

Re: Tournament in Sweden
This situation is strange but at least when I made another post, it wasn't deleted anymore
Re: Tournament in Sweden
About the tournament in Sweden, the host told me there are 7 possible players confirmed now and... they are from 7 different nationalities. The very funny thing is that a french player (David Crémoux) who hasn't played for 20 years is going to attend as he's living in Sweden now.
So far the different nationalities are Sweden, Finland, Australia, Italy, France and England

Re: Tournament in Sweden
Finally 8 players took part. Marcus Tilgner beat David Crémoux (France) in the final (1-0). Hope everyone enjoyed!
Re: Tournament in Sweden
It was a great tournament and hopefully a good start for table football in Sweden. Green, Cremoux and Ria they all live in Sweden and so they can be a big help to the Swedes. I'm pretty sure there will be regular activity in Sweden after this tournament.

Re: Tournament in Sweden
I heard it was great tournament that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, and which included spectators too (played in a bar).
The interesting thing is that many players were used to Old rules, which is something to make a note of for WASPA. It seems possible that international activity would be appreciated also for those rules, or rules that are a hybrid in some way. So perhaps in the future WASPA could develop its rules in that direction, towards the Old and more football-like. Just a thought, and perhaps a wrong conclusion.

Re: Tournament in Sweden
I think the "spirit" of WASPA is that we can include some special changes to "FISTF traditional rules" when needed. For instance here the first rond was played in games of 20 minutes but... everyone played at least 7 games! I really love that! I also think old players who come back after a long hiatus should try to "understand FISTF rules" because in many cases, FISTF has brought good solutions to old problems. Anyway, from the little I heard about the tournament, it was really great. Lars seemed to be very positive about this first experience!

The group of eight with 1x20 minutes had been decided at the venue. I think it was a good choice to give the 'newcomers' the chance to play as many opponents as possible, this way they had seen more styles, skills and tactics...
If I was in Latvia, I would recommend the same style of tournament ;-)
The impression of the whole tournament was really good.
Lars did a great job in organising everything perfectly including new tables, discount at the bar for the players, t-shirts and so on.
Let's hope the Stockholm lads will take it as a start into a good future. Chances are not too bad as some experienced players live in town who met for the very first time at this occasion. And it was great to see the progress of the Swedish guys even during the tournament!!

Main problem is, that 'old rules' are not 'old rules' and probably not even more football-like...
Massimiliano told me some interesting thing sabout the Old Subbuteo circuit and I will read their rulebook during the next weeks.
So, when Italians speak about their old rules with let's say Germans and Finns the amount of common rules goes close to zero... and then there are the 'official' old rules from their circuit... Confusing, somehow...

Yes, it can be confusing. What I thought was having just a few rules changed towards the older rules or towards football rules, like some FISTF people have also suggested. I think WASPA rules should be written so that we get people interested. In FISTF rules some things don't help that and they can be really confusing and difficult for new players, but also old rules have the problems you described.
Maybe there is no easy or even possible way to achieve that.
Hats off for Marcus and Kari for travelling there and acting as rules experts etc.

Re: Tournament in Sweden
David Cremoux (France) beat Bob green (Australia) in the final. Massimiliano Ria (Italy) beats Lars Löfgren (Sweden) in the game for the 3rd place. It was therefore another very international tournament. Well done!
